Lukewarm Tastes Really Bad

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

Last night’s message at the Connexion was another powerful one from Craig in the Practical Atheist series. These messages are proving to be hard hitting and pointed at the heart. They call for a gut check on where we are in our spirituality. Last nights title was “I Believe In God But I Don’t Want To Go Overboard,” it was all about being a lukewarm Christian. Remember what God said through John as he wrote in Revelation about being a lukewarm Christian? God said he wanted to spit em out! Yep… that kind of follower leaves a bad taste in God’s mouth and it really makes God sick.

God wants our whole devotion; our full spiritual connection with God Spirit; and wants us to put into practice all those things we already know about from Scripture and discipleship. It’s been said if we as Christians actually did half of what we already know we should be doing we would turn the world upside down; we really would “bring up there… down here.” We don’t need more information, we need more application. Just do it!

The good vibes keep on keeping on. Come and be a part of the growing Connexion momentum. Are you ready to make an impact for the Kingdom here, now? Just do it!

Are You a Practical Athiest?

Sunday, November 9th, 2008
Last night was the beginning of the Practical Atheist series and it began with a powerful message from Craig. He described a practical atheist as someone who says they belive in God but don’t really act like it; someone who does whatever they want even if it goes against what they say they believe. Truth is, all of us have times when we live as a practical atheist. Times when we don’t live up to the high standard of Christ. The good news is, we have a God of unbelievable grace who forgives and continues to love us and hold out the best for us. So, as followers of Jesus, we aren’t perfect, but forgiven, and we get back up and try again and again. It’s all about the “journey” of faith as someone mentioned last night in our discussion time.

In the message Craig prescribed a healthy fear or proper awe of God as the antidote for practical atheism. He suggested that when we really come to know who and what God is, we will have a healthy respect and will live our lives in a more Christlike way.

We had another good turnout last night! There’s a buzz in the air, we’re part of something very special that’s going to make a mark in our city. Be a part of it - there’s room for you!

Kaleo - Called

Monday, November 3rd, 2008
We finished up the Kaleo series last night with a challenging message from Craig. He shared that in addition to being called to care, called to generosity, called to serve, we are also called to make disciples. Not something we usually like to talk about is it?

Craig mentioned that the church overall isn’t doing a very good job on this one but that it doesn’t have to be so scary. To be a disciple just means to be a follower, a learner, a pupil or an adherent of someones teaching. In this case we are followers of the way of Jesus. We can disciple someone else by pouring our lives into them, maybe someone newer to the faith than ourselves. We can also be discipled by allowing trusted people to poor into us. All in all, we each try to be a follower of Jesus and as we go on the journey, help each other do it better and better every day.
